The Lucknow Commissionerate Police has released its annual crime report on Sunday. As per the report, from January 1, 2025, to December 28, a total of 6,456 complaints of cybercrime were received in the city. Of these, 90 per cent of the complaints were resolved.
The police had approximately 10,000 mobile numbers used in cybercrimes blocked. Additionally, Rs 11.68 crore, which was fraudulently transferred from people's accounts into various other accounts, has also been frozen.

According to Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Bablu Kumar, the report also released figures on other actions taken. According to the report, incidents of murder have decreased this year compared to the previous year. Furthermore, 525 accused individuals involved in such incidents were sent to jail, while action was also taken against three under the National Security Act.
The police claim that no incidents of dacoity occurred in the district this year. It also detailed actions taken under the Gangster Act and the Goonda Act. Under Operation Conviction, 829 criminals were convicted, and 139 accused individuals were also convicted of serious crimes related to women and girls. In one case, an accused person was sentenced to death.
The report also provided information on the police's role during the arrival of the President, the arrival of the Vice President, the Jamboree, and other successful sporting events. The report also mentioned Mission Shakti, the Nasha Mukti (drug-free) campaign, and Operation Pehchan, which was conducted for verification purposes.
The police have also praised their own efforts regarding improvements in the city's traffic management. The police's work on diversions and one-way systems at junctions with heavy traffic pressure has been visible to some extent. However, claims regarding the identification of and engineering improvements at black spots are under scrutiny. This is because, according to the report, significant work has been done on these spots this year.
Furthermore, the claims made in this report regarding continuous patrolling on highways and main roads have not been evident on the ground. This can be gauged from the fact that on December 22, a speeding bus travelling in the wrong direction on the service lane of the Agra Expressway ran over a motorcyclist.
