A heart-wrenching case of serious negligence in the capital's healthcare system has come to light, where the family of a new mother kept running between five hospitals, but she was not admitted for treatment anywhere. In the end, due to a lack of medical care, the woman died on the way. Angered by the incident, her family protested fiercely at the Mohanlalganj Community Health Centre (CHC), alleging negligence.

The case is from Uttargaon village in Mohanlalganj. A local laborer, Vinay Kumar, had admitted his 31-year-old pregnant wife, Sanju, to the local CHC on Wednesday after she went into labor. Sanju gave birth to a healthy baby girl through an operation.

According to the family, on Thursday morning, Sanju developed a problem and was unable to pass urine. They informed the doctor on duty, Dr Sangeeta Chauhan, about this. The family alleges that the doctor simply advised them to make her drink more water.

After this, Sanju's stomach began to bloat, and her condition started to worsen rapidly. Seeing her deteriorating health, the doctors at the CHC hastily referred her to Apex Trauma Centre.

Family Wandered From One Hospital To Another

What happened next raises serious questions about the healthcare system. The family first took Sanju to Apex Trauma Centre, from where she was referred to Queen Mary's Hospital. Queen Mary's also did not admit her and instead sent her to the Medical College. From the Medical College, they were advised to go to the Trauma Centre. When the desperate family reached the Trauma Centre, they were allegedly told to take her to Balrampur Hospital, citing a "shortage of oxygen."

During this entire time, Sanju's condition was becoming more and more critical. She died on the way while being transported from the Trauma Centre to Balrampur Hospital.

After her death, the enraged family members returned with her body to the Mohanlalganj CHC and created a ruckus, blaming them for negligence. The CHC Superintendent, Dr Diwakar, stated that they are in talks with the grieving family to resolve the matter.
