Traders from across Uttar Pradesh convened in the state capital on Tuesday to chart a course for implementing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to promote Swadeshi. The meeting, held at the Cooperative Building, saw senior leaders and business representatives pledge to prioritise indigenous products in manufacturing, trade, and daily use.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said that the use of locally made goods not only boosts the country’s economy but also strengthens local industries, creates employment, and fosters patriotism.
“Production and consumption of indigenous goods cause less harm to the environment, promote self-reliance, and reduce dependence on imports,” he said, adding that such products often reflect India’s cultural heritage.
Pathak administered an oath to the traders to prioritise the purchase, sale, manufacture, and use of indigenous products.
Lucknow Vyapar Mandal City President Amarnath Mishra highlighted that in an era of globalisation, Swadeshi is key to preserving traditions while boosting economic strength. “The use of indigenous goods supports local industries and artisans, reduces reliance on foreign products, strengthens the rupee, and narrows the trade deficit,” he said.
Prominent traders present included Banwari Lal Kanchal, Rajendra Kumar Agarwal, Anurag Mishra, Umesh Sharma, Jitendra Singh Chauhan, Treasurer Devendra Gupta, Bharat Bhushan Gupta, Ramkumar Verma, Ravindra Gupta, Saket Sharma, and Sushil Tiwari.
