Chaos erupted at Lucknow station on Tuesday when a battery-operated golf cart used for transporting passengers fell off the platform. At the time of the incident, there were no passengers in the cart.

After the driver's negligence came to light, the RPF (Railway Protection Force) registered a case against them under the Railway Act. The cart has also been seized. Passengers are frequently injured due to the negligence of golf cart drivers at Lucknow and Lucknow Junction.

A passenger suffered a fractured leg in January due to similar negligence. Last year, a cart collided with a train at Lucknow station. Arbitrary fares are also being charged to passengers.

The Lucknow Junction RPF had recently taken action, after which the contractor took all their carts out of service. The All India Coolie Morcha (All India Porters' Front) has also complained to the railways about this. The contractor takes the contract for the carts and then rents them out for a daily fee of Rs 1,500.
