"'Mahakumbh' is a unique symbol of the continuous flow of Sanatan culture. The Kumbh showcases the life philosophy of Sanatan Dharma, which is rooted in harmony," Shah posted on X ahead of taking the dip at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers in Kumbh city.
"I am eager to take a dip at Sangam and receive the blessings from saints at this great festival of unity and integrity in the holy city of Prayagraj," he added.
Earlier, Shah interacted with seers and officials after being welcomed by CM Yogi and other BJP leaders in Prayagraj.
The Uttar Pradesh government stated that over 13 crore people have taken a holy dip in the last 16 days of the Maha Kumbh. On Makar Sankranti, 3.5 crore devotees, including revered saints, performed the Amrit Snan. For the first time, the Shankaracharyas of all four Peeths were present at the Maha Kumbh.
According to tradition, pilgrims flock to the Sangam--the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati (now extinct) rivers--to take the holy dip believed to absolve sins and grant moksha (liberation).
