Despite being part of the city's "No-Tripping Zone," residents of Indraprastha Colony at Tila Mod faced a severe power crisis. In the 24 hours between 11 am on Thursday and 11 am on Friday, people received electricity for barely six to seven hours, leaving them troubled all night in the intense heat.
No Relief Despite Assurances from Officials
Colony residents reported that the power supply from the Indrapastha electricity sub-station was disrupted on Thursday afternoon. When they contacted officials from the power corporation, they were assured that the supply would be normalized soon, citing 'maintenance' work. However, these assurances proved hollow, and the erratic power supply continued all night. Troubled residents kept calling and messaging the officials, waiting for the electricity to be restored.
RWA Complains To UPPCL MD
The colony's RWA President, Satish Bhardwaj, has termed this "indiscriminate power cuts." He stated that they have also appealed to the MD of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) for a solution. He recalled that senior officials had previously ordered to connect their area to a low-load sub-station, and a survey was also conducted for it, but "the problem remains unresolved to this day."
Official Cites A Fault As The Reason
On this matter, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Brij Mohan Dubey clarified that a fault had occurred in the power lines of the Oxy Home and Bharat City societies. Since these lines run above and below the line for Indraprastha Colony, the supply had to be shut down for safety reasons.
However, he refuted the residents' claims, stating that "the power cut was not as long as is being reported."
