In a major decision, the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA) has removed 22 projects, located across seven districts of the state, from the abeyance list.
A total of 8,856 units (flats, plots, and commercial units) will be constructed in these projects. Six of these projects, accounting for 5,663 units, are located in Gautam Budh Nagar. This decision is a significant step towards the revival of projects whose status had been pending for a long time.
What Is The Abeyance List?
After the implementation of RERA, many projects emerged where builders had not uploaded necessary documents—such as land records, approved maps, and unit details—onto the RERA portal during registration. Following a thorough investigation of these projects, the authority issued notices to the respective promoters.
Most builders clarified that they were unable to provide complete details in the initial stages due to technical reasons and a lack of time. In view of this, RERA provided a facility on the portal for builders to amend their information. Despite this, the required land and map-related documents for many projects were still not submitted.
In the authority's 152nd meeting, it was decided that approximately 400 such projects—which lacked documentation and whose promoters failed to submit the required records despite notices—would be placed in the abeyance category. This decision was taken with the objective of providing clear information to buyers and the general public about the status of these projects, enabling them to be cautious when investing.
Six Projects From Gautam Budh Nagar
Out of a total of 350 projects on the abeyance list, 22 have now been removed. These include six projects from Noida-Greater Noida, accounting for 5,663 units. Construction work can now resume on these units, bringing relief to thousands of homebuyers and commercial investors.

Benefits Of Removal From The Abeyance List
The removal of these projects from the abeyance list will equally benefit homebuyers, builders, and the state's economy. For buyers whose dream homes were stuck in limbo for a long time, construction work can now resume. This will not only allow residential units to be completed on time but will also ensure that people receive the rights to their homes.
