Fresh chilling revelations have been unveiled in the murder case of former Merchant Navy officer Saurabh Rajput in Meerut. Investigators have found that eight days before the crime, his wife and prime accused, Muskaan Rastogi, purchased two knives for Rs 800 and rehearsed multiple times on how to stab. Uncertain of her skills, she later bought a cut-throat razor, which was ultimately used to behead Saurabh after he was killed.
On the night of March 3, Muskaan drugged Saurabh with sleeping pills. Once he was unconscious, she stabbed him three times before slitting his throat with the razor. Her lover and co-accused, Sahil Shukla, then used the same weapon to sever Saurabh’s head from his body, NDTV reported citing police sources.
The couple dismembered his corpse into 15 pieces, stuffed them into a plastic drum and sealed it with wet cement. Their plan was foiled when they realized the drum was too heavy to move.
The postmortem examination confirmed multiple stab wounds on Saurabh’s body, including three on the left side. It also revealed deep cut marks on the neck and wrists, with both body parts completely severed. The official cause of death was determined as hemorrhagic shock due to excessive bleeding.
Investigators believe Muskaan and Sahil’s motive stemmed from their drug addiction and affair. Saurabh, who worked in London, planned to take his wife and six-year-old daughter abroad. Muskaan, unwilling to leave Sahil, hatched the plan to kill Saurabh with his help, the report added.

Initially, the accused planned to bury Saurabh’s body parts under soil in the drum and plant a sapling over it. However, they later decided to use wet cement to contain the stench. Their miscalculation of the drum’s weight led to their downfall, as labourers they called to help dispose of it could not lift it. Panicking, Muskaan confessed to her parents, leading to her arrest.
Muskaan and Sahil, both arrested, are reportedly suffering from drug withdrawal symptoms. They are undergoing medical treatment, counseling and rehabilitation programs, including yoga and meditation, in jail.
