Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Mission Shakti 5.0 campaign is making significant strides in promoting women’s safety, respect, and self-reliance across Uttar Pradesh. On the occasion of International Girl Child Week, the state’s Women and Child Development Department is conducting large-scale self-defence workshops in all districts.
These workshops aim to strengthen the confidence of girls and women by teaching practical self-defence techniques and providing information on relevant laws and safety measures. Under Mission Shakti 5.0, the government has already reached over 13.58 lakh people through awareness campaigns at the district, block, and village levels.
In special sessions conducted in schools, experts trained female students on handling personal and social crises, encouraged them to recognise their strengths, and emphasised that the government supports women at every step. Workshops also included guidance on helpline numbers, cybersecurity, and steps to take in emergencies.
Girls from both rural and urban areas actively participated, expressing that the training boosted their confidence and awareness about personal safety. The programmes were conducted with the support of social activists, trainers, and subject matter experts, who urged women not to remain silent in adverse situations and to utilise government and social support systems.
