In a shocking incident, a cleric's wife and their two children were found murdered inside a mosque complex in Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat district.
Their blood-soaked bodies were found in the Badi Masjid complex in Gangnauli village, where cleric Mohd Ibrahim is posted as an Imam, according to a report by The Times of India.
The body of Ibrahim's wife, Israna (30), was found lying on the ground, while that of two children, aged 2 and 5, were found lying on a cot.
The local residents, reportedly, said that Ibrahim is originally from Muzaffarnagar's Sunna and was residing at the mouse complex for the last four years.
Israna used to teach children at the mosque. SP Baghpat Suraj Rai said that prima facie it appears that the perpetrators had access to the family and their heads were struck with a blunt object.
"The body of the cleric's wife was found lying on the floor, while the blood-soaked bodies of the two girls were on a cot. Preliminary investigation indicates they died after their heads were struck with a blunt object, and the perpetrator appears to have had access to the family. The bodies have been sent for postmortem and the report is awaited. Several teams have been formed to crack the case," the TOI report quoted the Baghpat SP as saying.
Ibrahim was not at home when the murder took place. He had gone to Deoband for some work. The bodies were recovered when the other kids arrived at the mosque for their evening tuition.
