A group of Kanwariyas allegedly vandalised a dhaba in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar reportedly after being served food containing onion and garlic. The incident occurred on Friday around 3 pm at Tau Hokke Wala Haryana Tourist Dhaba, located at Bijopura village intersection on the National Highway. The Kanwariyas, devotees of the Hindu deity Shiva, had ordered dal and potato curry without onion and garlic but claimed that the food was prepared with onion tadka.
The individuals in the group of more than half a dozen Kanwariyas were identified as Ramakant, Prashant and Sagar from Meerut, Aniket Tyagi from Kharkhoda, Kunal and Tarun from Hapur and Nishant, Ankit and Dev from Ghaziabad. The Kanwariyas were allegedly enraged upon discovering the unwanted ingredient in their meal. Their anger led to a ruckus, culminating in the vandalism of the dhaba.
The group broke chairs, tables, and window glass in their fury. The dhaba workers fled the scene as the situation escalated. Inspector Rozant Tyagi along with a police force arrived to manage the situation.
Despite efforts to pacify the Kanwariyas, the unrest continued as they moved to another dhaba owned by the same individual, identified as Pramod, a resident of Parai village, attempting further vandalism.
Police eventually managed to calm the Kanwariyas by addressing their grievances, including accusations of their Kanwad being broken. To further appease them, the police escorted the Kanwariyas to Haridwar to obtain new Kanwads. Both dhabas were closed following the incident. Inspector Rozant Tyagi stated that the situation was resolved by the security forces and both establishments remain shut.
