Violence that has erupted in Nepal following a ban on social media has also affected air traffic. Due to violent protests at the Kathmandu airport, incoming flights have had to be temporarily suspended.
In one such case, an IndiGo Airlines flight from Delhi to Kathmandu was diverted to Lucknow, even after it had reached its destination. After this plane landed, three more aircraft had to make emergency landings at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow. During this time, passengers were not allowed to deplane and remained inside the aircraft.
According to the information, IndiGo flight number 6E-1153 was traveling from Delhi to Kathmandu. When the plane neared the Kathmandu airport, the pilot decided to divert it due to unsafe conditions on the runway. While returning to Delhi with 160 passengers and 6 crew members on board, the pilot contacted Lucknow ATC (Air Traffic Control), after which the plane was safely landed in Lucknow.
