Noida News: In order to address the issue of traffic congestion and to ensure safe passage for pedestrians, the Noida authority has decided to widen city roads and construct "green walkways" at various locations. This is because people risk their lives when negotiating heavy traffic, especially during peak hours.
All major traffic crossings, such as Rajnigandha Chowk, Sector 16A, Model Town Chowk, and others, will have sidewalks constructed.
The fact that crossing pedestrians slow down traffic and creates large snarls that affect all city roadways is a major factor in the decision. According to authorities, traffic congestion affects most city routes during morning and evening rush hours, causing inconvenience to commuters, particularly those who work in offices.
“When we get down from Metro or bus on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, there’s no safe passage to walk to office or residential areas located along this e-way. It’s unsafe to walk from e-way to sectors located along Noida-Greater Noida Expressway amid traffic that ply on high-speed,” said Yashpal Singh, a Sector 130 resident.
At a meeting on Saturday at the Sector 6 main administrative office, Lokesh M, the CEO of the Noida authority, engaged with citizen groups to hear their opinions on various concerns and discuss challenges.
In an effort to enhance municipal services and infrastructure for the city's residents, the CEO also looked over the status of many projects being worked on by the civil department.
To guarantee efficient traffic flow and pedestrian safety, the authority resolved during the discussions to enlarge the city's numerous arterial roadways, create "green walkways," and beautify some of the surrounding neighborhoods. The action was taken in response to complaints from the public about the ongoing problems with traffic congestion and how pedestrians cannot cross city roadways safely.
