Noida Electric Bus Launch: In a major update on Monday, the Uttar Pradesh government has ordered the firms to speed up the process of introducing 500 electric buses in several districts of Gautam Budh Nagar. The 675-crore project aims to launch e-buses in Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway areas under the Gross Cost Contract model.

The UP Directorate of Urban Transport opened the financial bid for the firms, and two private agencies, Travel Time Mobility and Delbus Mobility, bagged the project with the lowest bid. Travel Time Mobility quoted Rs 54.9 per km (excluding GST) for 9-metre buses, and the Delbus Mobility quoted Rs 67.99 per km for 12-metre buses, the UP government official said.

“The final agreement will be signed once a joint Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) comprising Noida Authority, the Greater Noida Authority, and YEIDA is formally registered,” the official added. The SPV will manage the implementation and operation of e-buses for 12 years, ensuring that each e-bus runs 72,000 km per year. It will also manage fares, revenue collection and service logistics.

Noida will receive 300 buses due to a larger contribution, followed by Greater Noida and YEIDA, which will receive 100 buses each.

The e-buses will run on 25 routes, including 15 in Noida, seven in Greater Noida and three in YEIDA. The bus services are expected to operate at intervals of 10 to 15 minutes in the peak hours.
