The Noida Police has ramped up vigilance on the road as part of security arrangements for Diwali. On Sunday, the police and traffic department conducted a special surveillance campaign for Diwali.

During the checks, challans were issued to vehicles parked haphazardly. Vehicles were checked by erecting barricades at major intersections such as Pari Chowk, Alpha Chowk, LG Roundabout, Surajpur, Yamaha Tiraha, Hanuman Murti Roundabout, and the Greater Noida West area. The traffic police teams patrolled throughout the day.

Meanwhile, crowds of people thronged the streets, hurrying home after their festive shopping. Long lines of vehicles formed toward Pari Chowk, Tughalpur, Aichhar, Rampur, Surajpur, and Kulesara.

Due to a lack of parking space around the markets, people parked their vehicles haphazardly on the roadside, creating traffic jams. Traffic police issued fines to those violating the no-parking rule.

Buses, tempos, e-rickshaws, and private vehicles were heavily crowded from Pari Chowk to Zero Point. To control the situation, police provided alternative routes and diverted vehicles.

The traffic congestion was also high around Noida Sector 18 as people continued to throng local markets. The Noida Traffic Police said it deployed nearly 30 traffic police personnel at Sector 18 to manage the congestion.

"A traffic inspector and three sub-inspectors among 30 traffic police personnel are being deployed near Atta Market and Sector 18 to manage the festival congestion," said deputy commissioner of police (traffic) Pravin Ranjan Singh.

The traffic police has taken added measures on Monday to address the congestion and parking issues across the city on Diwali as people are out for Diwali shopping.
