Dr Ranjana Khare, the Paramedical Director, has filed a police complaint (FIR) in Lucknow regarding a massive job scam involving the identity of a man named Arpit Singh.
The recruitment scam originally took place in 2016 during the Akhilesh Yadav government, and action is now being taken under the direction of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. A case has been filed against all six impostors who used the name 'Arpit' on charges of fraud and causing a major financial loss to the state's health department.
The real Arpit Singh is currently employed at the Mursan Community Health Center (CHC) in Hathras district, while the impostors who stole his identity are on the run.
How The Scam Worked
According to the FIR, the state's selection commission (UPSSSC) had provided the Health Directorate with a list of 403 successful candidates for the post of X-ray technician. On this list, at serial number 80, was the name Arpit Singh, son of Anil Kumar Singh.
Using this one name and identity, six other individuals managed to get jobs in six different districts—Balrampur, Farrukhabad, Rampur, Banda, and Shamli—using fake documents.
Fake Addresses: Five of the impostors used the same address in Agra, while one used an address in Mainpuri.
Fake IDs: The impostors also provided different Aadhaar (national ID) card numbers in all districts except for Shamli.
How The Scam Was Uncovered
The fraud came to light through a Right to Information (RTI) query, which revealed that six other people were fraudulently working under the same name, Arpit Singh, in different districts. All their names were also found on the government's employee portal, Manav Sampada.
Once the Health Directorate discovered that six people were working under the same name in addition to the real employee, it launched an investigation. As soon as the inquiry began, all the fake Arpits absconded.
On Sunday, the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of the six districts brought the appointment documents to the directorate. After the documents were verified and the appointments were confirmed to be fraudulent, an FIR was filed against all six impostors on Monday. The government has also stated that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was already investigating the matter.

Over Rs 35 Million In Salaries Collected In Nine Years
According to the health department, an X-ray technician is hired at a grade pay of Rs 4,200, which results in an initial monthly salary of about Rs 50,000 to Rs 55,000.
Each of these fraudulent employees collected over Rs 5.8 million from the government treasury over the nine years from 2016 to 2025. In total, the six impostors have defrauded the health department of more than Rs 35 million.
FIRs for Fake 'Ankit' and 'Ankur'
The Health Directorate has also started investigating a similar fraud case from the same recruitment list involving the name Ankit, who was at serial number 127.
The real Ankit was appointed in Hardoi in 2016, but five other impostors also got jobs using his name. Two fake Ankits have been identified in Lakhimpur Kheri and Gonda. Another one in Badaun has already been fired. The two impostors in Azamgarh and Lalitpur have absconded.
A similar scam was carried out using the name of Ankur, who was at registration number 166.
The real Ankur was appointed under the Mainpuri CMO on June 1, 2016.
Meanwhile, a second, fake Ankur fraudulently secured a job at the Shahpur CHC in Muzaffarpur on June 12, 2016.
