To promote the message of a green and clean Earth, Eco Clubs have been formed in all council primary and upper primary schools. Earth Day will be celebrated on April 22 in every school, with the theme "Our Planet, Our Power."
As part of the celebrations, students will take a pledge to keep the Earth clean and green. The Directorate General of School Education has instructed all schools to organise awareness activities around Earth Day.
Events will include quiz competitions, Earth-themed songs, cleanliness pledges, and awareness rallies. Students will also motivate others not to litter and to contribute toward maintaining a clean environment.
Street plays will be performed to raise awareness about environmental pollution and promote the use of renewable energy sources. Currently, Eco Clubs conduct cleanliness drives every Saturday. Starting April 22, a series of Earth Day events and competitions will be rolled out to further strengthen this mission.
