Out of 3.39 lakh beneficiaries of the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme in the district, approximately 2.14 lakh farmers have not yet created their Farmer ID. The government has made it clear that without a Farmer ID, beneficiaries will not receive the scheme's benefits after the next installment. Although the installment due on November 19 will be disbursed to everyone, a large number of farmers could be subsequently deprived, ensuring their financial loss.

A campaign is underway in the district, but there appears to be a significant lack of awareness among farmers. If they do not get their Farmer ID created in time, they may have to forfeit benefits from other agricultural schemes in addition to the Samman Nidhi.

The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, launched in December 2018 with the first installment released in February 2019, has become a vital financial support for farmers, providing Rs 6,000 annually to eligible recipients.

However, the central and state governments have now issued directives that in the future, only those farmers whose Farmer ID is updated will receive the scheme's benefits. Currently, there are 339,000 beneficiaries of this scheme in the district, but only 125,000 of them have created a Farmer ID so far.

Deputy Director of Agriculture, Arun Kumar Tripathi, stated that approximately 214,000 farmers could be excluded from upcoming installments if they do not take immediate action. Farmers need to understand that the Farmer ID is the foundation not only for the Samman Nidhi but for all agricultural schemes. It will enable benefits related to seeds, fertilisers, equipment, crop insurance, agricultural grants, and new technologies to be delivered directly to beneficiaries.

To achieve this, a special campaign is being conducted in every Gram Panchayat and revenue village in the district, with teams from the agriculture department, Panchayat Secretaries, Lekhpals, assistants, and Jan Seva Kendras (Common Service Centers) working continuously. Many farmers, due to a lack of information, are waiting or postponing this, treating it as a routine process, when in fact it is a direct matter of their financial security.

The agriculture department is continuously warning that if the Farmer ID is not created on time, benefits could be stopped from the next installment. Farmers must come forward themselves to complete this process so that the assistance from these schemes continues uninterrupted.

What Farmers Need To Do

The process of creating a Farmer ID is very simple, and farmers can complete it themselves. They only require three documents: an Aadhaar card, a Khatauni (land record), and a mobile number. Farmers can apply directly online by visiting the agriculture department's portal, where the option to create a Farmer ID is available.

Farmers who find the portal difficult to use can get their Farmer ID made at a nearby Jan Seva Kendra, where the process is completed for a fee of Rs 20 to Rs 50. Additionally, the secretariat staff, Panchayat Secretary, Lekhpal, and Panchayat Assistants located at the Panchayat Bhawan are available to help farmers.

The district administration has set a target to ensure 100 per cent completion of Farmer IDs in every Gram Panchayat and all revenue villages. To this end, awareness campaigns, chaupals (village meetings), village-level announcements, and Farmer Helpdesks have been activated.

Sambhal CDO orakhnath Bhatt said,"We appeal to farmers to get their Farmer ID made without delay, as future benefits of the Samman Nidhi and all other agricultural schemes will only be available to those whose Farmer ID is ready. A comprehensive campaign is underway in the district, and the facility is available in every panchayat. Farmers can also complete this task themselves through the portal."
