A woman in Gujarat's Bhavnagar city was allegedly murdered by her fiance inside her house. Police reported that she was killed just one hour before their wedding was scheduled to take place on Saturday.
The incident occurred near Tekri Chowk by Prabhudas Lake during a dispute between the couple over a saree and money. According to police, the accused, Saajan Baraiya, and the victim, Sony Himmat Rathod, had been living together for the past one to one-and-a-half years. They were engaged, and most of the rituals had been completed. Their wedding was set to take place on Saturday night.
Fight Broke Out One Hour Before Wedding
Police stated that just one hour before the wedding, an argument broke out between the two over a saree and money. In a fit of rage, Saajan attacked Sony with an iron pipe and slammed her head against the wall. The accused also vandalised the house before fleeing the scene. Upon receiving the information, a police team arrived at the location to assess the situation.

What Did The Police Say?
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) RR Singhal stated, "The couple was living together despite family opposition. They had been together for one to one-and-a-half years. Yesterday was their wedding. An argument broke out between them over a saree and money."
He further added, "During the argument, Saajan attacked Sony with an iron pipe. He slammed her head against the wall, causing her to die on the spot. The woman's body has been sent for a post-mortem, and a detailed investigation is underway." The accused had also fought with his neighbor on Saturday, and a police complaint had been registered against him for that incident.
