To improve the quality of education, a 12-week Vidya Pravesh program will be implemented for class one students in all schools in Prayagraj. Nodal teachers will oversee the program, while the Block Education Officer (BEO) will monitor its execution.
As the new academic session begins on April 1, efforts are being made to create a strong learning environment and enhance students' understanding. The Director General of School Education has instructed that the Vidya Pravesh program be conducted in council schools, aided schools, and private schools, ensuring that all newly enrolled class one students benefit from it.
Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and Nipun Bharat Mission, the program emphasises pre-primary education as the foundation for literacy and numeracy. According to NEP guidelines, every 5-6-year-old child should engage in activity-based learning for a year in Balvatika classes before transitioning to formal schooling in class one. This prepares them mentally for structured education, ensuring they grasp fundamental language and numerical skills.
Vidya Pravesh, also known as the School Readiness Program, provides structured activities to facilitate learning. Calendars and manuals have been prepared at the government level and distributed to teachers for effective implementation. The program was introduced in the 2022-23 session and yielded positive results, prompting its continuation and expansion to aid and private schools this year.
As part of the program, sports and physical activities will be integrated into daily routines to support language, literacy, and mathematical skills. BSA Praveen Kumar Tiwari outlined the daily schedule, which includes:
-30-minute morning prayer with a focus on cleanliness.
-Physical activities to promote motor skills and coordination.
-Sports sessions involving interactive games.
-Activity corners, such as art, book, puzzle, and doll house sections, to foster creativity.
-Language and literacy development through storytelling, rhymes, and conversations.
-30-minute art activities, including freehand painting, clay modeling, and storytelling-based drawing.
-Classes focusing on Mathematics, Environmental Studies (EVS), and Scientific Thinking, featuring activities like sound recognition, tactile identification, and shape recognition.
With its holistic approach, the Vidya Pravesh program aims to create a strong educational foundation for young learners, ensuring they are well-prepared for formal schooling.
