Project Praveen, which is currently active in secondary schools, will now be implemented in higher education institutions as well. The focus will be on equipping students with practical skills through the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Skill Development Mission and the Higher Education Department is expected to be signed soon to facilitate this expansion.
At present, students from classes 9 to 12 are receiving daily 90-minute skill development training sessions in secondary schools. These trainings are conducted by experts from authorised training provider companies, often utilising nearby ITI workshops as needed.
Now, similar training programs will be launched in colleges and universities. Students will be trained in trades such as Information Technology, Electronics, Automobile, and Fashion Design. Dedicated skill development centers will be set up within each institute, enabling students to access certificate courses alongside their regular academic curriculum.
These centers will allow students to explore available training options, helping them take confident steps toward employment and self-reliance. With this initiative, the government aims to strengthen students' skill sets and make them more industry-ready while they pursue higher education.
