To ease traffic congestion on major arterial routes, the government has approved the widening and reinforcement of two busy stretches: Delhi Road (from Begumpul to Football Chowk) and Baghpat Road (from Football Chowk to the bypass). The Public Works Department (PWD) has initiated the tender process for both projects.

Delhi Road Project

Begumpul to Football Chowk The PWD has issued a tender worth Rs 11.51 crore for the widening of this 2,650-metre stretch.

Scope: Under the plan, the existing road width of 7 metres (on one side) will be increased to between 8 and 8.50 metres.

Drainage: The project also includes covering the drains on both sides of the road with interlocking tiles to ensure better utility and safety.

Status: Officials stated that construction will commence shortly after the contract is finalized with the selected agency.

Baghpat Road Project

Football Chowk to Bypass Following government approval, the tender process has also begun for the widening of Baghpat Road from Football Chowk to the bypass.

Cost: The estimated cost for this construction work is Rs 15.76 crore.

Scope: The road will be reinforced and widened by extending it by 1 to 1.5 metres on both sides.

Impact: This expansion will increase the total road width from the current 14 metres to 17 metres, providing significant relief to commuters.
