A woman was allegedly poisoned by her 16-year-old daughter in Uttar Pradesh’s Raebareli after her mother objected to her relationship with a man, police said on Sunday. According to police, the teenage girl gave poison-laced tea to her mother following which her condition began deteriorating. 

The incident occurred on Thursday in the Gondwara village in Deeh area. Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the girl and her 18-year-old boyfriend.

The woman, identified as Sangita, alleged that her daughter with the help of her boyfriend added some sedatives mixed in her food. SHe also said that she received death threats from the teenage boy.

Station House Officer (SHO) JP Singh said that the girl was sent to a juvenile home on Saturday and his boyfriend was sent to jail. They both were booked under Section 328 (causing hurt by poison) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The woman is now said to be out of danger and further investigation is underway.
