Railways News: Indian Railway initiated a mega block for the Gorakhpur-Domingarh third line and the Gorakhpur-Nakha Jungle second line. During the block, train operations were halted for 9.5 hours on Tuesday, from 10:15 am to 7:45 pm. Trains resumed operations at 8 pm. During this period, non-interlocking was carried out. It will continue until September 26. Train operations will gradually return to normal from September 27.
49 trains, including the Gorakhdham, Humsafar, and Dehradun, have been cancelled due to non-interlocking. The railway administration has restored some trains. 30 trains are being diverted, with dozens halted along the way.
After non-interlocking, train operations will return to normal, and track capacity at Gorakhpur Junction will increase. Chief Public Relations Officer Pankaj Kumar Singh explained that a mega block has been taken for the third rail line between Gorakhpur and Domingarh and the second line from Gorakhpur to Nakaha Jungle.
Non-interlocking will be in place during the mega block until September 26. Train operations will return to normal from September 27. The laying of the third and second lines will increase the track capacity of Gorakhpur Junction. Delays for trains traveling from Gorakhpur to Domingarh will be reduced.
During Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath Puja, more trains will be able to operate according to demand. Freight trains will also operate smoothly.

The closed middle foot overbridge (FOB) at Gorakhpur Junction has also begun demolition during the mega block. The demolition work is underway under the supervision of the relevant engineers.
The platforms have been barricaded. Railway Protection Force and railway personnel have been deployed at various locations. The station management plans to complete the demolition by September 26.
Due to disruptions in train operations on the Gorakhpur-Lucknow route, most passengers departed by roadways buses. The bus station premises were crowded with passengers from early morning. For the convenience of passengers, the Transport Corporation is operating 20 additional buses on the Gorakhpur-Lucknow route. Regional Manager Luv Kumar Singh said efforts are being made to ensure passengers do not face any inconvenience.
