Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief National General Secretary, Prof Ramgopal Yadav, has criticised the Election Commission's SIR campaign, describing it as a process designed to delete votes. He accused the administration of placing the votes of SP President Akhilesh Yadav, Shivpal Yadav, and even himself into 'Category C' (a classification often used for doubtful or shifted voters). He urged party workers to ensure that the names of all eligible voters are added to the list under any circumstances.

Instructions For Booth-wise Voter

Registration During a constituency-level review meeting held on Tuesday at Shiv Vatika near the bus stand, the SP leader reviewed the details of voter registration completed so far on a booth-wise basis. He instructed workers to accelerate their efforts in the remaining days. Reiterating his concern, he stated that the SIR process is being utilised as a campaign to remove voters. Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement regarding "delivery and drama," Prof Yadav remarked that the PM failed to speak a single word on a sensitive issue like Manipur. Referring to the uproar in Parliament regarding the SIR issue, he alleged that the BJP always works to divert attention from matters of public interest.

Direct Dialogue On SIR Campaign Progress

Prof Yadav held a direct dialogue with party workers to assess the percentage of votes added under the SIR campaign at booths within the Bhogaon assembly constituency. He encouraged them to maximise voter registration during the first phase. He further noted that the Election Commission did not take into account the demands of opposition parties regarding the extension of the time limit for the process.
