Sambhal News: Three men have reportedly died and several sustained injuries, in the violence that erupted early morning today in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal after a court-appointed team arrived to survey the Mughal-era Jama Masjid. While the family of one man claimed that he died in police firing, the official who confirmed two deaths did not offer any comments on the claim. Meanwhile, opposition parties shouted at the Yogi government for the lawlessness in Sambhal.
Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav accused the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Sambhal administration of orchestrating the incident to deflect the discussion on "election fraud."
Akhilesh claimed that the survey team was sent to disrupt the environment so that no one could discuss the elections.
"During this clash, many young people were injured, and one even lost his life. If the survey had already been conducted, why did the government conduct another survey, that too early in the morning and without preparation?" he asked.
"I won't delve into legal and court procedures, but there was no one to hear the other side. What happened in Sambhal was orchestrated by the BJP and the administration to prevent any discussion on the election fraud," the SP leader said.
Meanwhile, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati condemned the stone pelting on the survey team in Sambhal on Sunday morning and held the Uttar Pradesh government responsible for the 'ruckus' and 'violence' in the district, news agency ANI reported.
"I would also like to tell the UP government that after the unexpected results of the by-elections in UP yesterday, there was a lot of tension in the entire Moradabad division, especially in Sambhal district."
"The government and administration should have taken forward the work of surveying the mosque-temple dispute in Sambhal. This would have been much better, but by not doing so, whatever ruckus and violence happened during the survey today, the UP government and administration are completely responsible for that," said Mayawati.
The Uttar Pradesh government hinted at stern action against the perpetrators of the Sambhal mosque survey attackers. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya termed it the duty of the government and the police to follow the court's instructions.
"...and whoever hinders this, action will be taken against them," he said.
Meanwhile, Sambhal SP said that the stone pelters and arsonists will be identified and will be charged under NSA.
