Union Minister of State for Finance and seventh-time Member of Lok Sabha from Maharajganj, Pankaj Chaudhary, has been elected President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Uttar Pradesh. On Saturday, no one had filed a nomination against him for the post of president.
The name of Pankaj Chaudhary, the unopposed elected President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Uttar Pradesh, was announced by Central Election Officer Piyush Goyal on Sunday. After the formation of the BJP Uttar Pradesh in 1980, Pankaj Chaudhary became the 16th state president.
The names of 120 members of the National Council were also announced at this event. As part of the Bharatiya Janata Party's Sangathan Parv (organisational festival), the process for electing the BJP state president and National Council members was completed on Sunday.
At the Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Auditorium of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Law University in Lucknow, the election results were declared by Central Election Observer and National General Secretary Vinod Tawde; Central In-charge for the state president election and Union Minister Piyush Goyal; and State Election Officer and former Union Minister Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, State BJP President Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, along with State General Secretary (Organisation) Dharampal Singh, were also present on this occasion.
Central office-bearers, state office-bearers, MPs, MLAs, Mayors, District Panchayat Presidents, District Presidents, and even Mandal (block) Presidents were invited. Before Pankaj Chaudhary, 15 leaders had the opportunity to become the party's president.
In the state, the position of state president has been held by a Brahmin on seven occasions, with Kalraj Mishra being appointed twice. In the party's history, a state president has gone on to become the Chief Minister on two occasions.
