Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna presented the Uttar Pradesh budget for the financial year 2024-25 in Vidhan Sabha on Monday. FM Suresh Kumar Khanna estimated the total expenditure at Rs 7.36 lakh crore, which is higher than the FY 2023-24 budget of Rs 6.90 lakh crore.
During his speech, FM Suresh Kumar Khanna stated that the policies of the UP government are especially centred around the upliftment of marginalised sections of the society including young women, farmers and the poor following the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’. The finance minister also claimed that under the leadership of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state has witnessed an unprecedented improvement in law and order and infrastructure development.
Here are the key highlights of UP Budget 2024-25 presented by Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna:

Out of the total expected expenditure of Rs 7.36 lakh crore, the state government has allocated Rs 5,32,655.33 crore for the revenue account and Rs 2,03,782.38 crore for the capital account.

A deficit of Rs 15,103.89 crore is expected in the budget after deducting the total expenditure of the state from receipts of the consolidated fund.

The UP government will expend Rs 24,863.57 crore on the new welfare schemes for the next fiscal year.

Three schemes were also announced to push the agricultural sector in the state. The State Agriculture Development Scheme and World Bank-assisted UP Agris Scheme have been allotted Rs 200 crore each while the third scheme which aims to install automatic weather stations-automatic rain gauges in blocks and panchayats were allocated Rs 60 crore.

The amount that eligible women under the Destitute Women Pension Scheme receive has been raised from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 per month. FM Khanna stated that the scheme has helped 31,28,000 women in need till the third quarter of 2023-2024.
The minister said that the Women Farmer Empowerment Project will form 200 producer groups to offer technical assistance in the fiscal year 2024-2025.
The state allocated Rs 32,721 crore for new initiatives in its 2023-2024 budget of Rs 6.90 lakh crore.
