Many parts of India received rainfall on Sunday, along with snowfall in the mountainous regions. The national capital Delhi witnessed a clear sky after the rain, which brought some relief from the foggy conditions in Delhi. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued warnings of rain and fog in several other states in north India. 

Delhi Weather Updates 

Delhi witnessed fog and cold waves on Sunday, after a spell of rain. The weather disrupted the train and flight operations, causing delays and cancellations. The IMD issued a yellow alert for Monday, warning of dense fog and partly cloudy sky. The met department also said that the sky will be clear after Monday and the minimum temperature may drop to four degrees Celsius again.

The foggy and cold weather is expected to continue for the next two days. The cold wave may intensify in the morning from Tuesday and the minimum temperature is forecasted to reach seven degrees Celsius on Wednesday, according to IMD. 

Punjab Weather Updates 

Punjab experienced a rainy and chilly day on Sunday, as strong winds brought intermittent showers from dawn to dusk. The day's temperature dropped due to the continuous rain and wind. The IMD forecasted foggy conditions for Monday morning, with visibility likely to be less than 20 meters at many places from 5 am to 9 am.

Jammu-Kashmir Weather Updates 

Heavy snowfall in the hilly areas and incessant rain in the plains of Jammu and Kashmir disrupted normal life on Sunday. Many flights were cancelled due to poor visibility. The weather department forecast more rain and snow for Monday as well.

The plains of Kashmir witnessed moderate snowfall, while the higher areas received heavy snowfall. The snow accumulation hampered road connectivity and power supply in many parts. The cold wave intensified as the minimum temperature dropped below zero in most places.

The Jammu division also experienced snowfall in the high-altitude areas, while the lower areas received rainfall. The snowfall blocked several roads, including the Jammu-Srinagar national highway. The authorities advised people to avoid unnecessary travel and stay indoors.

Rain Likely In These States 

At the same time, light to moderate rain is possible in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, North Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. Parts of northern and eastern India may experience light to moderate rain and snow in the next 24 hours, according to the Meteorological Department. The Western Himalayas may see a significant reduction in precipitation after this period.

The weather department also predicted dense fog in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi, as well as parts of Odisha and Northeast India. Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh may witness light rain and snowfall, while East Assam may receive light rain. Cold-day conditions may prevail in some areas of Himachal Pradesh.
