The UP government has approved an amendment to the Pledge Park (Promoting Leadership and Enterprise for Development of Growth Engines) scheme, paving the way for the development of industrial units in Mandola, Loni. Following the completion of private land acquisition, an application for a change in land use will be submitted to the Greater Noida Development Authority (GDA), allowing industrial units to be set up in the Pledge Park.

The amendment introduces a key change: Pledge Parks can now be established on roads seven metres wide, down from the previous requirement of 12 metres. A 1.5-metre footpath will also be required for these seven-metre roads. Non-polluting industrial units will be allowed on seven-metre roads, while all types of industrial units can continue to operate on 12-metre roads.

Launched in 2023, the Pledge Park scheme aims to promote industrial growth in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector by encouraging private companies and farmers to develop industrial parks on 15 to 50 acres of land. The Public Works Department will construct a 2.5-kilometre road leading to the Pledge Parks to facilitate connectivity.

Shrinath Paswan, Joint Commissioner of the Industries Department, said a private investor’s search for land in Mandola, Loni, is almost complete. “An application will soon be submitted to the GDA to change the land use from agricultural to industrial. Once approved, a Pledge Park will be developed, enabling the establishment of industrial units. This will benefit many investors currently seeking land,” he added.

Under the amended scheme, a 25 per cent development charge will be levied on investors setting up Pledge Parks within the development authority’s jurisdiction. Layout approvals for Pledge Parks will be granted by the authority, while plans outside its jurisdiction will be approved by the commissioner, director, or an officer nominated by them.
