In a harrowing incident in , a man allegedly stabbed and killed his eight-month pregnant sister-in-law following a domestic dispute late Friday night. The victim’s father has alleged conspiracy, while the accused and other male family members are currently absconding.
The Incident
The incident occurred around 9:00 pm on Friday under the jurisdiction of the Vishunpura police station. The victim, identified as Rinki, had gone to her room to sleep after completing household chores. Approximately half an hour later, a sudden dispute broke out between Rinki and her brother-in-law, Tuntun. Before other family members could intervene, Tuntun allegedly stabbed Rinki in the abdomen with a knife.
Hearing her screams, family members rushed to the spot and found her covered in blood. Her father-in-law, Indrajit Maddheshia, and brother-in-law, Rajkumar, rushed her to the district hospital. However, doctors declared her dead after an examination. Upon hearing the news, the family members fled the hospital.
Family Background And Victim Details
Rinki was eight months pregnant, with a due date expected at the end of the current month. Her husband, Brijkishore, works in Pune and was scheduled to return home next week for the delivery. He has set off for home upon receiving news of the tragedy. The couple has a three-year-old son, Lucky, and a two-year-old daughter, Nitya.
The family consists of Indrajit Maddheshia, a farmer, his four sons (Sunil, Brijkishore, Tuntun, and Rajkumar), and a daughter, Preeti. At the time of the incident, the eldest son, Sunil, was away with his family at his in-laws' house for a function.
Police Investigation And Arrests
Hospital staff informed the police, who subsequently notified the victim's father, Harendra of Bansgaon Khas. Upon arriving at the hospital, Harendra accused the in-laws of murdering his daughter as part of a conspiracy.
Inspector-in-charge Anand Gupta stated that the cause of the dispute is currently being investigated.
Detentions: The police have taken the mother-in-law, Subhavati, and the sister-in-law, Preeti, into custody for questioning.
Absconders: The male members of the household have fled the area.
Next Steps: A formal case will be registered upon receipt of a written complaint.
The community has expressed shock and condemnation over the brutal killing of the woman and her unborn child.
