UP Electricity Department is set to launch WhatsApp groups ahead of summer to ensure quick resolution of power-related complaints and seamless communication in Bahraich. The initiative aims to minimise public inconvenience during rising temperatures when electricity demand surges and frequent power cuts trigger protests and public anger.

The groups will be created under the supervision of the Superintending Engineer and will include MPs, MLAs, MLCs, District Panchayat Chairpersons, and key departmental officers from Lucknow. Local engineers—Executive Engineers, SDOs, and JEs—will also be active members.

These groups will serve as platforms where electricity updates will be posted and complaints raised by public representatives will be addressed promptly. Additionally, local WhatsApp groups, previously created by SDOs and JEs, will be reactivated or newly formed to include area residents and enhance grassroots-level response.

According to Superintending Engineer Vijay Rajput, senior officials have issued instructions for the formation of these groups to ensure timely problem-solving and better coordination with public representatives.
