UP Fog Accidents: Etah Administration Caps Bus Speeds At 50 Kmph, Fog Lights Made Mandatory; Check New Rules

With winter setting in, fog has begun to affect visibility on roads, increasing the chances of accidents. In response, the Transport Corporation has introduced fresh safety measures for buses, focusing on protecting passengers during foggy conditions, especially at night.

Drivers Told to Stop Buses If Visibility Drops

The corporation has directed drivers to reduce speed or halt operations when visibility drops due to dense fog. Clear instructions have been issued to ensure that buses are not driven in unsafe conditions. Officials said passenger safety will take priority over maintaining schedules.

Use Of Fog Lights Made Mandatory

As part of the new guidelines, drivers have been asked to limit their speed to a maximum of 50 kilometres per hour during foggy weather. They have also been told to keep a minimum distance of 50 metres from the vehicle ahead. In cases where visibility becomes extremely poor, buses must be parked safely on the side of the road until conditions improve. The installation and use of fog lights have also been strongly emphasised.

A meeting was held with drivers at the regional office to explain the risks linked to winter fog and the need for extra caution. Drivers were advised to avoid haste and remain alert while operating vehicles during early morning and night hours, when fog is usually thicker.

Transport Corporation Holds Safety Meeting With Drivers

Passengers have also been urged to cooperate with drivers and remain patient during delays. Officials said pressuring drivers to maintain high speeds in poor visibility can put lives at risk.

ARM Naresh Chandra Gupta confirmed that these instructions have been communicated to all drivers. He said the corporation is taking special care during the winter season to prevent accidents. According to him, the measures are expected to improve road safety and give passengers greater confidence while travelling in fog-prone conditions.
