Development projects in the Hapur municipal area are set to gain momentum with the government releasing nearly Rs 10 crore under the 15th Finance Commission’s Tied and Untied Fund Grant.
The funds will be used for constructing roads and drains, improving the drainage system, and purchasing waste collection vehicles.
According to officials, the first instalment of the basic grant has been received, which will help restart long-pending development works. Tied funds will be allocated for a water treatment plant, air-quality management and new waste disposal vehicles, while untied funds will support improvements in street lighting, beautification and completion of unfinished road and drain projects.
Municipal officials have begun preparing detailed proposals and have sought input from councillors on priority areas. Municipal Executive Officer Sanjay Kumar Mishra said proposals will be sent to the District Magistrate by next week, after which the approval and implementation process will begin.
