The Uttar Pradesh government has approved a major increase in financial aid under the Daughters’ Marriage Assistance Scheme for registered construction workers. The initiative, run by the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, aims to extend stronger support to economically weaker families.
Under the revised assistance structure, workers will now receive Rs 65,000 for a general marriage, Rs 75,000 for an inter-caste marriage, and Rs 85,000 per couple for mass wedding ceremonies. An additional Rs 15,000 has also been provisioned for organising mass marriage events. All arrangements related to security, accommodation, transportation, and food during these events will be ensured by the Labour Department and the Board.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the welfare of workers’ families remains a priority for the state. He emphasised that providing financial support for daughters’ marriages is a humanitarian responsibility, ensuring that no worker’s daughter begins her new life with financial stress.
According to Board Secretary Pooja Yadav, over 1.88 crore registered construction workers stand to benefit from the revised assistance. She stated that the Board is committed to extending scheme benefits to every eligible family.
Eligible workers can apply through a completely free and online system. Registration with the Board requires a one-time fee of Rs 20 and an annual contribution of Rs 20. Applications can be submitted on upbocwboard.in or at Jan Seva Kendras.
