The UP government is taking steps to streamline health services after officials in several districts exceeded their authority by posting 36 medical specialists at Primary Health Centres (PHCs), despite the availability of district hospitals and Community Health Centres (CHCs) for specialist care.
These specialists, including ENT surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, paediatricians, eye surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, and physicians, were stationed at PHCs where services are limited to outpatient care until 4 PM, and emergency services are not operational. As a result, patients from district hospitals are being referred to higher centres unnecessarily.

Among the specialists affected are:
-ENT Surgeons: Mridul Kumar Tiwari (Chitrakoot)
-Orthopaedic Surgeons: Haribansh Yadav (Ayodhya), Shehanshah Alam (Balrampur), Akash Gautam (Firozabad), Surendra Kumar (Sultanpur)
