The Uttar Pradesh government’s new Bed and Breakfast (B&B) and Homestay Policy-2025 has received an enthusiastic response from residents of the state capital. A large number of people have applied to register their homes as homestays under the scheme.

Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said the policy will strengthen tourism infrastructure by offering tourists affordable alternatives to hotels while also providing them with a family-like environment. Officials estimate that around 800 homestays will come up in Lucknow under the initiative.

The policy also provides for financial incentives and grants. Homeowners residing near tourist destinations can register their residences as homestays, with one to six rooms and up to 12 beds. A maximum of two-thirds of rooms in a house may be rented out.

Applications can be submitted through the Tourism Department’s portal, up.tourismportal.in. Registered homestays will be classified into Gold and Silver categories, depending on facilities and standards.
