Under the National Mission for Clean Ganga, the Namami Gange unit of UP Jal Nigam (Rural) will conduct a drone survey of drains discharging into the Kali River. Preparations for the survey, to be carried out through an agency, have begun following instructions from the District Magistrate. The exercise is expected to start within a week.
Originating from Antwada in Khatauli (Muzaffarnagar) and merging with the Ganga near Kannauj, the Kali River flows through Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Etah, and Farrukhabad.

According to officials, drains such as Abu Nala One, Abu Nala Two, Odeon Nala, and Delhi Road Nala in Meerut, along with two major drains in Khatauli, discharge untreated water directly into the river. Several smaller drains are also suspected to flow into it.
The drone survey will identify:
-The number and locations of drains joining the river
-The actual condition of these drains
-Points where the river’s flow is obstructed by silt, waste, or encroachments
