Uttar Pradesh News: A man in Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad district allegedly died by suicide after accusing his wife’s relatives and two police constables of harassment and extortion. In a rare act, he wrote his final note using blue ink on the white trousers he was wearing.

The man, identified as Dilip Rajput from the Chheda Nagla area, ended his life on Monday after returning home from the police station. Earlier that day, his wife had lodged a complaint against him, accusing him of assaulting her under the influence of alcohol.

According to Dilip’s father and the suicide note, Dilip had gone to the police station along with his father after the complaint was filed. There, he was allegedly beaten by constable Yashwant Yadav, who also demanded Rs 50,000 to settle the matter. Dilip reportedly refused, after which another constable, Mahesh Upadhyay, reduced the demand to Rs 40,000. The money was allegedly paid before Dilip was allowed to leave.

Once back home, Dilip wrote a note on his trousers naming the two constables and also accusing his wife’s father Vanwari Lala, her brother Raju and his brother-in-law Rajnesh Rajput of harassment. He then hanged himself in his room.

The next morning, his family found his body and the message on his trousers. Shocked and angry, they protested against the police and stopped them from taking the body for some time, demanding strict action.

Dilip’s uncle, Jitendra, said the couple had an argument earlier and Dilip had taken his wife to her parents’ home. After that, her family filed a complaint which led to police action and the alleged demand for money.

Dilip’s father also filed a complaint, claiming that the police assaulted his son at the request of his in-laws.

Superintendent of Police Arti Singh confirmed that a complaint had been filed by the wife and both families were called to the police station. She said the issue was settled with a compromise. According to the post-mortem report, no physical injuries were found on the body.

An FIR has been registered naming the two constables and three relatives from the wife’s side. An investigation is underway and police have assured that strict action will follow.
