The Ghaziabad district administration on Tuesday announced that all the schools will remain closed between July 17 and 23 due to the ongoing Kanwar Yatra. The administration stated that the decision was taken to maintain law and order, adding that the schools will reopen on July 24. They further stated that a traffic advisory will also be issued in the upcoming days to manage the devotees. A large number of people are likely to cross the city in the upcoming weeks to reach Haridwar. The administration has advised the residents and the devotees to follow the guidelines to avoid any inconveniences.

Earlier on Monday, the administration converted Ghaziabad's Seemapuri border and Meerut Road from Meerut Tiraha on GT Road to one-way traffic. The officials stated that the decision was taken to manage the additional crowd due to the ongoing Kanwar Yatra. They further stated that traffic will flow in both directions on the Delhi-bound lane of GT Road. The administration had also stated that special traffic advisories are announced for Mondays, as a large number of devotees visit the local temples on this day.

In a separate incident, a group of Kanwariyas vandalised a car with sticks and rods on Monday. The chaos reportedly began after the car accidentally hit one of the Kanwariyas, damaging his Kanwar. The other Kanwariyas surrounded the vehicle and beat the driver mercilessly after the damage to the kanwar. A video related to the incident has also gone viral on the social media platforms, drawing mixed reactions from the social media users.

"In Ghaziabad's Modinagar, Kanwariyas damaged a vehicle and severely beat the driver. The incident occurred after the vehicle accidentally hit a Kanwariya, damaging their Kanwar, which enraged the other Kanwariyas," one of the social media users wrote while sharing the video of the incident.
