A traveler died under suspicious circumstances on Monday night at a night shelter (Rain Basera) operated by the Rotary Club at the bus station. Although the shelter is meant to accommodate only 10 passengers, the deceased was found there on Tuesday morning. An Aadhar card bearing an address in Jaitunpura, Bhiwandi, Thane, Maharashtra, was found in his possession.
Panic And Identification
Panic ensued within the roadways premises following the discovery of the body on Tuesday morning. The Station In-charge immediately informed the police about the incident. Using the mobile number found with the deceased, the police notified his family members.
The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Raj Kumar Sharma, son of Ram Keval, a resident of MahruaPahitipur in the Ambedkar Nagar district. He worked at a private company in Maharashtra.
Circumstances Leading To Death
Raj Kumar Sharma had arrived at the bus station on Monday night. Unable to find a connecting bus to his home from the depot, he decided to spend the night at the shelter. However, he passed away before Tuesday morning.
There are conflicting reports regarding his condition. Station In-charge Nanhuram Saroj stated that Raj Kumar Sharma was under the influence of alcohol. Meanwhile, Bus Station Outpost In-charge Pradeep Kumar Yadav stated that Sharma was returning home from Maharashtra because he was ill. He added that the exact cause of death will only be clear after the post-mortem report is received.

DM’s Visit And Blanket Distribution
On the same night (Monday), District Magistrate Kumar Harsh inspected the night shelter at the bus station. During the inspection, the DM distributed blankets to the passengers spending the night there.
Overcrowding At The Shelter
Reports indicate that 22 passengers were staying in the night shelter, which has a capacity of only 10 beds.
Along with the deceased Raj Kumar Sharma, other travelers present included Vijay (Ghazipur), Bhanu Pratap (Dalmau, Raebareli), Bharat Yadav (Dubor, Amethi), Brijbhan Verma (Gosaiganj), Bablu Khan (Amethi), Subhash Chandra (Dihpur), and Himanshu and Chandan (Samirpur).
Additionally, Chandrashekhar Sonkar and Asha (Kanpur), Rajendra and Manoj Yadav (Barausa), Aditya Kumar, Sachin Yadav, Ashmit Mishra, Ashutosh Chaudhary, Ranjit Yadav, and Nikhil Yadav (Basti), Sarvendra Kumar (Hardoi), Shyam Sahu and Rahul Prajapati (Jugrapur, Kaushambi), and Kaushalendra Tiwari (Ratapur, Pratapgarh) were also staying at the shelter.
