Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday launched the PM Schools for Rising India (SHRI) scheme in UP, under which 925 schools will be developed as integrated campuses with state-of-the-art facilities to transform the education system in Uttar Pradesh.

The launch of the PM Shri Schools Modernization Program with an amount of Rs 404 crore was held at Lok Bhawan. On this occasion, an amount of Rs 347 crore was also transferred for infrastructure facilities in secondary schools under 'Project Anlakar'.

CM Adityanath said that the PM SHRI scheme announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Teacher's Day last year will give new inspiration to children associated with government-run schools in the state. He stated that various works like Smart Class, Digital Library, Science Laboratory, Computer Lab, Bal Vatika, additional classrooms, furniture etc are to be provided in PM Shri Vidyalayas.

"At present about five crore children in the state are taking education in various courses, while in many countries of the world, they don't even have a population of five crore," he said.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi intends that India should once again provide leadership to the world through the National Education Policy-2020. Uttar Pradesh is moving forward in this direction with full commitment," CM Adityanath added.

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that about one thousand schools run by the Central and state governments in Uttar Pradesh have been covered under the PM SHRI scheme, which will construct schools with modern facilities and implement the National Education Policy 2020.
