Ayodhya is gearing up for the consecration ceremony of Ram Mandir, which is scheduled to take place on January 22 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several other dignitaries from various fields. The security officials have tightened the security around the temple and are likely to introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the surveillance of the holy city.

The Ayodhya Ram Mandir, where pilgrim footfalls are expected to increase significantly post January 22 inauguration have beefed up the security measures. Besides AI surveillance, 11,000 state police and paramilitary forces are likely to be deployed for the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla.

The pilot project of AI surveillance could help in detecting any suspicious activities within the temple premises and raise a security alert automatically as officials said that the threat perception of Ram temple is high and the security scheme for the event is yet to be finalised.

A senior official said that manual and video surveillance is already in place in the red zone where Ram Temple is located and about 38 officers of the local intelligence unit have been deployed there. He said that for the day of the event, traffic diversions will be made on all roads heading towards Ayodhya, reported HT.

As many as 26 companies of paramilitary and PAC along with nearly 8000 civil police personnel, UP Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) and Special Task Force (STF) teams and central agencies like National Security Guards (NSG) will be present at the event. In addition, 34 sub inspectors, 71 head constables and 312 constables have been deployed for security. The deployment includes bomb disposal squads and anti-sabotage teams, four personnel of police radio communications and 47 firefighters.
