A total of 368 new polling booths have been created in Gorakhpur district following the physical verification and rationalisation of polling stations. This action was taken as part of the Special Intensive Revision-2026 of the electoral rolls for assembly constituencies, which is based on the qualifying date of January 1,2026.

The new polling stations were identified according to the standard of maintaining a maximum of 1,200 voters per centre.

Meeting With Political Parties

In this regard, a meeting with officials and representatives of recognised national and state political parties was held at 5:30 pm on Monday in the Tourism Building auditorium at the Collectorate.

Presiding over the meeting, Deputy District Election Officer Vineet Kumar Singh informed the representatives of all parties about the increased number of booths.

Increase in Polling Stations By Constituency

As per the commission's instructions, the reorganisation has led to the following increases:

Campierganj: 393 to 438

Pipraich: 408 to 449

Gorakhpur Urban: 417 to 457

Gorakhpur Rural: 399 to 435

Sahjanwa: 421 to 451

Khajni (SC): 407 to 455

Chauri Chaura: 364 to 403

Bansgaon (SC): 405 to 444

Chillupar: 465 to 515

This revision increases the total number of polling stations in the district from 3,679 to 4,047.

Call For Objections And Suggestions

The Deputy District Election Officer provided the political parties present with a draft list of the new polling stations. He requested them to submit any suggestions or objections in writing to the District Election Office by November 18,2025.
