To tackle low voltage issues and improve electricity supply in Amethi city, the Power Corporation has upgraded the transformer capacity at the local substation and announced the installation of a new ‘Tehsil’ feeder. This move aims to prevent power disruptions during the peak summer season.

Previously, the substation had only three feeders catering to the entire city and nearby villages. Now, with the addition of a fourth feeder, areas such as the Tehsil, railway station, bus stand, police station, and surrounding localities will have a dedicated power line. All equipment for the new feeder has been procured, and installation is expected within two weeks.

Currently, two 5 KVA transformers serve around 9,200 consumers through the city’s feeders. Rising summer demand had been overloading the system, leading to frequent faults and damage to appliances. To address this, one 5 KVA transformer has been replaced with an 8 KVA unit, which became operational on Tuesday after a brief two-hour outage in some areas.

According to Junior Engineer Kuldeep Kumar, the newly installed transformer had been undergoing pre-use heating and is now fully functional. With this upgrade, consumers can expect stable voltage and more reliable power supply. The new ‘Tehsil’ feeder is set to go live in May.
