The UP BJP has initiated preparations for the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of the Iron Man, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The campaign, scheduled from October 31 to December 6, will feature programmes such as the Run for Unity, padyatras (foot marches), tribute events, educational competitions, anti-drug initiatives, and an ‘Adopt Swadeshi’ drive.

On October 31, Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary, Run for Unity events will be organised in every district, involving public representatives, athletes, youth, women, traders, farmers, teachers, advocates, and local citizens alongside party workers.

In a virtual meeting, the State President emphasised that the nation is progressing in a culturally united and dedicated manner, inspired by Sardar Patel’s ideals, and urged the realisation of a self-reliant India. The campaign also aims to promote service activities, de-addiction efforts, indigenous product usage, and social welfare initiatives.

Ahead of the campaign, the State President will participate in programmes in Barabanki on October 24 and Prayagraj on October 25, accompanied by press conferences by state ministers and party office-bearers.

State General Secretary (Organisation) Dharmpal Singh highlighted that the campaign will foster cultural unity, national solidarity, and self-reliance, reflecting Sardar Patel’s vision. Padyatras spanning 8 kilometres will be conducted in all assembly constituencies from November 1 to 25. Educational institutions will host essay, speech, rangoli, and painting competitions.

Additionally, five representatives from each district will travel to Karmsad, Gujarat, to join the national yatra from Sardar Patel’s birthplace. This will culminate in a 150-kilometre-long national padyatra from Karmsad to the Statue of Unity.

The campaign seeks to inspire patriotism, unity, and public service among youth and all sections of society.
