UP Weather: Monsoon rains in Uttar Pradesh have been proving disastrous as cities like Prayagraj and Varanasi are flooded, with the majority of cities underwater. The relentless rains in Uttar Pradesh have claimed 20 lives in rain-related accidents on Monday, as the state grapples with severe flooding in several districts. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of very heavy rains in 19 districts on Tuesday, with a heavy rain alert issued for scores of cities.

UP Weather Update: Yellow Alert Issued For Lucknow

The weather department has issued a yellow alert for very heavy rain in Lucknow on Tuesday. The rain that started on Saturday continues to lash the city, with intermittent showers expected to persist.

Heavy Rains Expected In Several Districts

According to the weather headquarters in Amausi, there is an alert of very heavy rain in two dozen districts on Tuesday. The districts expected to receive heavy rainfall include Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Kasganj, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, Badaun, and the surrounding areas.

The water level of the Ganga and other major rivers is increasing rapidly, causing concerns about the flood situation in several districts. The administration is working to mitigate the impact of the floods and ensure the safety of people in affected areas.

UP Weather Update: Schools Closed In Flood-Hit Areas

In view of the floods and continuous rains, the government has closed all schools up to the 12th class in Prayagraj till August 7. The administration has taken this decision to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Rainfall Breaks 7-Year Record In Lucknow

The rains in Lucknow have broken the record of seven years, with 91.3 mm of rain recorded till 8:30 am on Monday. This is the highest rainfall in the city since 2018, when 114.3 mm of rain was recorded on August 3. The temperature in the city has also dropped significantly, with the daily temperature recorded at 27.6 degrees Celsius, 6 degrees less than normal.
