UP Weather Today: Monsoon is active in Uttar Pradesh and has wreaked havoc as low pressure turned into a depression on Thursday, inflicting mayhem in East UP districts like Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Bundelkhand. The Indian Navy has issued a Red alert. The disruption caused by the continuous rainfall has led the India Meteorological Department to issue a weather alert. 6 districts of the state have been placed under red alert for torrential rains, while 7 other districts are on an Orange alert.
UP Weather Today: Red Alert In Prayagraj, Other 5 Districts
The Meteorological Department has issued alerts for multiple districts in Uttar Pradesh. A red alert has been issued for several areas, including Lalitpur, Jhansi, Mahoba, Banda, Chitrakoot, and Prayagraj, warning of extremely heavy rainfall and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning on Friday.
An orange alert has been issued for Jalaun, Hamirpur, Fatehpur, Kaushambi, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Mirzapur, and Sonbhadra, indicating very heavy rainfall with strong winds expected at speeds of 30-50 km/h.
As per the Lucknow centre of the India Meteorological Department, a low pressure formed near south-west Bihar and east UP has moved in a west-north-west direction and turned into a depression in south-east UP on early Thursday.
The relentless rain in Prayagraj claimed several lives in Prayagraj. The common life was brought to a halt after incessant rain for 16 hours in several districts of UP. Residents are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions.
There is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning in most parts of western Uttar Pradesh. However, there is no specific alert of heavy rain on July 19.
