Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took note of an incident where a BJP MLA allegedly dug up a half-a-kilometre stretch of a road with a bulldozer after he was denied ‘commission’ by the contractor. After the news got fervidly viral, CM Yogi took cognisance of the matter and ordered full recovery of the damages from those involved in the action, news agency PTI reported a senior official as saying.
The public works department (PWD) was being constructed between Shahjahanpur to Budaun.
Ramesh Singh, the manager of the construction company, got an FIR registered against 15-20 unidentified people involved in the act. It stated that one accused in the case is the representative of BJP Katra MLA Veer Vikram Singh. The case was registered on October 3 under the relevant section of the IPC, besides the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
As per the complaint, Jagveer Singh, who introduced himself as MLA representative, at times would reach the site and intimidate the employees of the construction firm and demanded a ‘5 per cent commission’, reported PTI.
"When this commission was not given, they dug up half a kilometre of the road built by us with a bulldozer on October 2," the complainant alleged.

SP Ashok Kumar Meena, while quoting the FIR, told PTI that the road was being constructed from Jaitipur via Nawada to Budaun district. It is alleged that Jagveer Singh reached the site with 15-20 men and beat up the workers there with sticks, besides digging up half a kilometre road, the SP said. He said attempts were being made to nab the accused.
Additional District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar Pandey said the information related to the case was sought and a team was formed under the Tilhar sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) to probe the matter. He said a legal course would be taken after the report of the probe agency.
Meanwhile, MLA Veer Vikram Singh said Jagveer Singh was not his representative but at the same time accepted that the latter was a BJP worker.
"I have nothing to do with him," PTI quoted him as saying.
