Students from the 2024-25 academic session who missed out on scholarships and fee reimbursements are facing delays due to server issues on the UP scholarship portal. The state government had opened the portal for these students following a Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announcement promising benefits to those left out in the previous session.

The portal, scholarship.up.gov.in, is also handling applications for the current 2025-26 session, where over 6 million students have applied so far. The combined load caused the portal to crash repeatedly, preventing many students from the 2024-25 session from submitting their applications.

On Thursday, the portal was temporarily shut down for four hours to increase server capacity and resolve technical issues. A proposal has been prepared to give the affected students another opportunity to apply, and a new timetable will be announced once it is approved.

During the 2024-25 session, due to negligence by departmental officials and educational institutions, 5,87,000 students were unable to forward their scholarship and fee reimbursement applications. Ahead of Diwali, the Chief Minister assured that these students would receive the benefits, prompting the Social Welfare Department to reopen the application window from October 27 to 31.
